Canon's latest EOS R6 camera goes V for video
"One of the benefits of a video-first mirrorless camera is added features like the R6 V's second tripod mount for vertical mounting, tally lamps, front record button, and vari-angle LCD that can be pointed forward for self-recording (with rotating UI elements). Pro users will likely appreciate that Canon is also including wave form monitoring, false color, and zebra displays for more detailed exposure information."
"Launching alongside the R6 V is a new lens, a $1,399 RF 20-50mm f/4 L IS USM PZ. It offers both power zoom and manual zoom controls, toggleable with a physical switch. Canon is billing the lens as having the same or better image quality as the popular RF 24-105mm f/4 L lens, which is a staple of many enthusiasts and pros. But what's particularly impressive about the 20-50mm is that it has no focus breathing and that its zoom and focus is fully internal - making it ideal for mounting to a gimbal since its center of gravity doesn't change."
Canon announced the EOS R6 V, a video-focused full-frame mirrorless camera with a 32.5-megapixel sensor and 7K video recording. The camera is based on the EOS R6 Mark III but removes a viewfinder and a mechanical shutter to achieve a more compact body and uses active cooling with a fan. Canon claims the sensor delivers over 15 stops of dynamic range. The R6 V records 7K RAW and 4K video from oversampled 7K up to 60p, with uncropped 4K up to 120p and 2K up to 180p. It supports open gate 3:2 for full sensor coverage and includes video-oriented features such as vertical mounting, tally lamps, a front record button, and a vari-angle LCD with forward self-recording support. Pro monitoring tools include waveform, false color, and zebra displays.
