Maggie St. Thomas grew up attending punk shows in Southern California with her father, spending school nights at seedy venues from age six. She picked up a camera in 1991 at a political rally at Los Angeles City Hall and discovered a passion for photography. Over the next decades she devoted herself to shooting punk performances and film rolls, photographing acts such as L7, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Ramones, Johnny Thunders, and Lemmy Kilmister. She captured many private offstage moments and assembled photographs, music journalism, and interviews into Subject: Punk, whose second edition appeared in October and features interviews with Wayne Kramer, Markie Ramone, Johnny Ramone, and others.
