The Very Grisly Caterpillar | Defector
Briefly

A newly discovered caterpillar on O'ahu is the only known carnivorous larva among its peers, primarily those which feed on leaves. This caterpillar hunts on spiderwebs for trapped insects and is characterized by its habit of collecting and adorning its body with the remains of its prey, such as ants and flies. Dubbed the 'bone collector,' it consumes small creatures and meticulously displays their parts, reflecting an unusual adaptation in the evolutionary landscape of moths and butterflies.
This kind of caterpillar's favorite and only place to hunt is on spiderwebs woven in tree hollows, logs, and rock cavities. There, the caterpillar crawls around in search of any insects caught in the web.
Researchers dubbed this caterpillar the 'bone collector' as it decorates its body with the remains of its prey, showcasing its gruesome hunger for flesh.
