"Many of the animals lacked access to food and water,"
"The majority were also living outdoors without adequate protection from the elements."
"Ultimately, we weren't successful, and it was clear that intervention was necessary, so we executed a search and seizure warrant today to seize them,"
"An operation of this scale required all hands on deck from across the organization,"
More than 150 animals, including Canadian geese and a deer, were removed from a Hadley property following reports of neglect. Many animals lacked access to food and water and were living outdoors without adequate protection from the elements. The majority removed were birds—poultry such as chickens and geese and domestic birds like cockatiels and parrots—alongside goats, cows, pigs, sheep, rabbits, and one pony. MSPCA-Angell and Hadley police executed a search and seizure on Jan. 7 after discussions with the property owner failed. The animals are being transported to MSPCA-Angell facilities to receive care while the court process unfolds. The evacuation used more than three trailers, five vans, and over 20 staff.
