A recent study reveals that many dog owners believe their pets have established friendships among other dogs. Conducted by Camp Bow Wow and Talker Research, the survey of 2,000 U.S. dog parents found that 54% think their dogs have friend groups and 69% reported their dog has a best friend. Dog socialization is deemed crucial, with 91% of owners emphasizing its importance for building friendships. Benefits of dog socialization include increased happiness, improved social skills, and enhanced quality of life. Notably, many owners feel a sense of accomplishment when their dogs thrive socially.
"We all need friends, and that includes our dogs. It's clear to see how socialization and friendship can improve the quality of life for dogs," said Camp Bow Wow's Animal Health and Behavioral Expert Erin Askeland.
"In fact, 83% said they feel a 'sense of accomplishment' as pet parents when their dog is well-socialized and able to make new friends."
