A huge pet lizard was left behind in a recently vacated Alameda home. The initial call identified the animal as a Komodo dragon, the world's largest reptile, but the animal was an ornate monitor according to the police report. Ornate monitors can grow to about seven feet, compared with about ten feet for Komodos. The found lizard appears juvenile; photos show about two feet from snout to base of tail plus three more feet of tail.
