A tiger escaped from captivity near the eastern city of Leipzig after attacking a person. Police reported that the injured man was male and only slightly hurt, while another report said he was hospitalized. The tiger belonged to trainer Carmen Zander, who keeps a group of big cats. Police said no other tigers escaped. The tiger reportedly escaped from a private facility in Schkeuditz, west of Leipzig, and was later shot dead by police in nearby gardens. The incident ended with the animal killed at the scene.
