In a major drug bust in Northern California, authorities arrested a man after discovering half a pound of methamphetamine worth about $26,000 during a traffic stop. A search of his Vallejo home revealed more drugs, cash, and exotic animals, including a baby spider monkey and two rattlesnakes. The monkey, named Violeta, is now in the care of the Oakland Zoo, where she is receiving medical attention. The man faces multiple charges linked to drug possession and illegal ownership of exotic animals.
"That is a tremendous amount of meth to have in a car, and that obviously generates what's called a rollover search warrant," said Sgt. Rex Hawkins.
Detections at the man's residence revealed not only a substantial quantity of methamphetamine but also a baby spider monkey named Violeta and two rattlesnakes.
The female monkey, estimated to be about 18 months old, was reported in 'decent health' and is currently receiving medical attention at the Oakland Zoo.
Authorities found half a pound of methamphetamine, worth about $26,000, during a car stop, leading to a subsequent warrant for the manâs home.
