At her release hearing, prosecutors argued she posed a threat to the public, and Rosenberg was ordered to wear a GPS ankle monitor, which she has worn since. She is also prohibited from possessing chickens, ducks or any other type of fowl."
Zoe Rosenberg is charged with taking four chickens from a Petaluma poultry farm in June 2023 and faces nearly five years in prison if convicted. Footage captured a nighttime retrieval in which Rosenberg, wearing protective gear, placed four birds into a bucket; the birds showed scratches, bruises and severe crowding. The chickens now reside at an undisclosed sanctuary. Police later arrested Rosenberg on felony conspiracy and misdemeanor counts; she was released on bail with a GPS ankle monitor and prohibited from possessing fowl. She is a UC Berkeley senior.
