Mourners flocked to St. Mary Major Basilica in Rome to pay their respects to the late Pope Francis, who was laid to rest in a modest tomb per his wishes. Unlike many of his predecessors, he chose this basilica, visiting it frequently throughout his papacy. Following a grand funeral Mass attended by world leaders, the College of Cardinals will soon convene to plan the next steps, including assembling for a papal conclave after the designated mourning period.
