He said both director nominees did an amazing job and the jury could not decide which was better. When discussing the Palme d'Or, he reminded viewers he had previously won other Cannes prizes but never the Palme d'Or. He said he did not want to give the Palme d'Or to any films because he had never received it, then added that he had no other choice.
