Ziggy, nearly two, was asked to leave a restaurant because he was unable to remain seated, despite not being disruptive. His mother, Renèe Barendregt, recounted their experience while dining on the Gold Coast. Despite being told the restaurant couldn't provide a high chair, she felt Ziggy's playful behavior was normal for his age. After interaction with a nearby family and showing interest in a potted plant, they were confronted by a waiter who insisted on his seating. Renèe's disappointment led her to share the incident online, questioning restaurant standards regarding children.
Renèe explained, 'Can you please put your child in the seat?' After spending the day exploring the Gold Coast, Ziggy was simply acting like a toddler.'
'He sat for a while but in true toddler style got off of his seat, but stayed close,' she said, asserting that her son's behavior was perfectly normal.
Renèe stated, 'The man came over and said if he can't stay in his seat we can't serve you here,' emphasizing her disbelief over being asked to leave.
Renèe maintained, 'He wasn't being destructive or interrupting other diners.' She felt the request to leave was unwarranted given the circumstances.
