Nintendo has released an updated Parental Controls app in anticipation of the Switch 2's launch on June 5th. The app introduces features to limit and monitor children's access to GameChat, requiring parental approval for kids under 16 to interact with friends or use video chat. It enables parents to add notes for each child’s friends for easy reference and tracks GameChat usage details. The Nintendo Switch App has also been updated with new upload features and improved functions for games like the upcoming Breath of the Wild sequel.
Parents or guardians must approve any friend encounters before a child under 16 can use GameChat, ensuring they maintain control over their child's interactions.
With the new parental controls, every time a child signals to start a video chat, parents will receive a request via the app for approval.
