Cookbook Author Wrote a Note Excusing Her Son from the Clean Plate Club at Lunch
"Amy Palanjian has more than a million followers on her @yummytoddlerfood Instagram account who gobble up her suggestions for feeding kids ... as well as her advice to avoid force-feeding them. So when her 6-year-old son mentioned that one of his camp counselors said he had to finish his lunch, Palanjian, who also happens to be the author of " Dinnertime SOS," was understandably concerned."
"The next day, Palanjian added a note to her son's lunchbox that read, "Please let him eat until he is full. He does not have to finish all of the food. Thank you! Amy." She posted a photo of the lunch and the note on Instagram, noting that "mama bear" is always ready to support her cubs. This isn't the first time Palanjian has used a lunch note, an idea she discovered from Dr. Katja Rowell, to communicate with her children's caregivers."
Amy Palanjian runs a popular Instagram account focused on feeding children and promotes avoiding force-feeding. Her 6-year-old reported a camp counselor told him to finish lunch, prompting Palanjian to add a lunchbox note asking caregivers to let him eat until full and not require finishing all food. Palanjian has used lunch notes previously after a school staff member insisted a daughter finish her main dish before dessert. She emails teachers when needed and gives children written backup to present to caregivers. Meals at her house emphasize family time; she plans the menu and children decide what and how much to eat.
