Don't Create Separate Google Business Profile For Department Listings
"Auto dealers - I found ANOTHER automotive vendor talking about setting up separate Google Business Profile department listings for separate services (oil change, tires, etc)... "is this a bug or intentional or you dont know?- Barry Schwartz (@rustybrick) November 27, 2025 Still trying to understand this. Vendors are recommending automotive dealerships create separate Google Business Profile department listings for services such as oil changes and tires. Creating separate department listings for distinct services risks breaking Google Business Profile policies. Policy violations can lead to profile suspensions and removal from Google Search and Google Maps, with all repercussions applying to the dealership. Google removed or changed how departments appear on main GBP listings, producing uncertainty and reports of missing department entries. Multiple social posts and notifications in mid-November through December show attempts to understand whether the change is intentional or a bug.
