With estimates indicating that Amazon controls over 50% of book sales, the company's timing has raised eyebrows, especially in light of Bookshop.org's CEO calling it a deliberate, shameful move. Amazon claims the scheduling was unintentional, citing the need to accommodate more countries.

"The people at Amazon responsible for the timing of their 'Book Sale' should be ashamed, but they are shameless," said Bookshop.org CEO Andy Hunter, emphasizing the disparity in market control.

"I implore you: if you live near an indie bookstore... you must go," urged Maris Kreisman, highlighting the importance of supporting local bookstores amidst Amazon's dominance.
