"When you're first understanding the concept of what goes behind screens, it's hard to wrap your head around,"
"There are all these different careers. Firefighters, police, scientists, but software engineering is something that you might not think about,"
"It's important for people to know that coding is a big marketplace and it's an option."
Aryan Poduri, a 17-year-old from Mountain House, California, wrote GOAT Coder to demystify Python and teach children coding through hands-on exercises and uncomplicated explanations. The book, published in April, has sold over 2,000 copies. Poduri began learning to code as a child, influenced by parents who work in tech and by local Silicon Valley-area culture. Early learning included a beginner's Python class in elementary school and parental guidance. A 2023 research report supported by Apple found that uncertainty about where to start remains the biggest barrier for students learning to code.
