A recent analysis of London's Borough of Camden explored factors influencing feelings of belonging among residents. The study, conducted by the Annecy Behavioral Science Lab in conjunction with Neighbourly Lab, highlighted key aspects such as employment, housing stability, neighbor interactions, and public space usage. Private renters, newcomers, and those lacking neighborly contact reported lower levels of belonging. The research advocates for strategies that strategically blend institutional support with grassroots initiatives tailored to the local context, enhancing community connections and fostering a sense of belonging among residents in Camden.
Our analysis reveals correlations, not causation. We found robust associations between certain factors and feelings of belonging but cannot definitively state that one causes the other.
Effective belonging strategies combine institutional support with grassroots initiative tailored to the local context, ensuring better outcomes for community connection.
