Renewed calls urge Transport for Ireland and Local Link to engage constructively with a community-led proposal for Calry and Newtownmanor. A motion to Sligo County Council sought an update on proposals from the Calry community working group. The revised plan would reroute the existing 563 service through Calry village by using the L3409 and R278 corridor. Community representatives argue the change can be delivered without additional cost, without harming timetables, and with a reduction in total route distance. The proposal is based on local analysis of passenger usage and existing services to ATU St. Angela’s and nearby educational facilities. Residents contend that ATU St. Angela’s already receives extensive daily coverage through services including 981, 572, and 977, making the continued routing of 563 into that corridor potentially duplicative.
"Evidence gathered by the community indicates that ATU St. Angela's already benefits from extensive transport coverage through the existing 981, 572 and 977 services, which operate daily across extended hours and throughout the year. In that context, residents believe the continued routing of the 563 service into an already well-served corridor represents duplication rather"
