The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development recently updated the status of its Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program, revealing that providers submitted applications totaling $704.3 million. With an allocation of approximately $813 million in BEAD funds, the state received 298 applications covering most of its Project Area Units (PAUs). Significant requests came from Amazon's Project Kuiper for LEO broadband, which aimed to cover over 141 PAUs, while AT&T and Comcast sought the largest individual funding amounts of $195 million and $182 million respectively, for 28 and 27 PAUs.
