Kerry broadband rollout passes 25,000 premises, up 9 per cent since start of 2026
More than 26,000 homes, farms, and businesses in Kerry can access high-speed fibre broadband under the National Broadband Plan. Rollout progress reaches 26,284 premises passed, with over 7,200 already connected. Completed works include rural communities and townlands near Ballydavid, Ballyheigue, Castleisland, Sneem, and Waterville. The figures show an increase of 600 connections since February, when 6,700 were connected. The government-backed plan aims to deliver fibre-to-home infrastructure in rural and remote areas where commercial providers do not operate. Kerry’s intervention area covers around 28,000 premises, all set for minimum 500Mbps speeds, supported by €107 million investment. NBI encourages residents to check their Eircode and order via nbi.ie as the copper network switch-off approaches.
"More than 26,000 homes, farms and businesses across Kerry can now access high-speed fibre broadband through the National Broadband Plan, according to National Broadband Ireland (NBI). The rollout is now at 26,284 premises, with more than 7,200 already connected to the network. Rural communities and townlands near Ballydavid, Ballyheigue, Castleisland, Sneem and Waterville are among the areas where works have been completed."
"The latest figures represent a rise of 600 extra broadband connections by NBI since February when it announced the figure was at 6,700 as the larger towns like Listowel, Tralee and Killarney were completed. Under the government-backed NBI plan, the intention is to deliver fibre-to-home broadband infrastructure to rural and remote parts where commercial providers do not plan to operate. In Kerry, the 'intervention area' includes around 28,000 premises, all set to receive broadband speeds of at least 500Mbps."
"“We are delighted to announce that over 25,000 Kerry homes, businesses and farms are now passed on the NBI network. Those connected are experiencing the life-changing benefits of high-speed fibre broadband with minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second,” said TJ Malone, Chief Executive Officer of NBI."
"Mr Malone said with the national switch-off of the copper network approaching, NBI's fibre network will ensure communities across Ireland are prepared for the future by supporting remote working, education, healthcare access, and local enterprise while providing the reliability needed for everyday living. “As we enter the final year of the National Broadband Plan rollout, we're encouraging everyone in Kerry to check their Eircode on nbi.ie and order now to secure high-speed fibre broadband for their home or business,” he said."
