Biggest Nevada BEAD Awardee is Commerce's Latest Pen Pal
Briefly

Sky Fiber Internet, the leading recipient of Nevada's BEAD broadband funding, has urged Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick to expedite contract finalization for its $180 million project. Sky Fiber has already invested $360,000 with plans for comprehensive rural broadband coverage, but construction is stalled pending federal reviews. CEO Garry Gomes emphasized the need for swift action to avoid increased costs and diminished public trust in the initiative's success, outlining four requests to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in deployment.
"Delays not only risk higher costs and lost labor but also erode public confidence in what is arguably the most ambitious and promising broadband investment in our nation's history," said Sky Fiber Internet CEO Garry Gomes in the letter.
"Let's work together to deliver on the promise of BEAD - with urgency, collaboration and success," Gomes said.
