How Magic: The Gathering's space opera found its voice
Briefly

During the MagicCon in Chicago, Wizards of the Coast announced the upcoming Magic: The Gathering set, Edge of Eternities, set in space. Although the initial announcement in Las Vegas was underwhelming, the Chicago panel generated excitement when head designer Mark Rosewater teased the new theme. This expansion follows two earlier sets, Dragonstorm: Tarkir and a Final Fantasy crossover, allowing fans to anticipate a unique cosmic adventure within the game's narrative tradition. More artwork was showcased to build anticipation ahead of the release.
"The initial reception to the news was a bit subdued, for a couple reasons... a few pieces of art to convey the creative direction of the set."
