Minnesota fraudster at center of $250 million scam, controversial ICE crackdown sentenced to 42 years | Fortune
Aimee Bock, former leader of Minnesota nonprofit Feeding Our Future, was sentenced to nearly 42 years after conviction in a $250 million fraud case. The scheme was described by the U.S. Justice Department as the single largest COVID-19 fraud scheme in the country. Bock acknowledged failure in federal court. Authorities announced additional fraud charges against 15 people accused of receiving federal payments for social services administered through Minnesota’s state government. Prosecutors said the nonprofit fraud network included partner organizations, phony distribution sites, kickbacks, and fake lists of children. The government said Bock and co-conspirators used proceeds for international travel, real estate, luxury vehicles, and other lavish spending. The cases were used to justify a federal officer surge in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.
""We will claw back every dollar you have stolen from the American people," Assistant Attorney General Colin McDonald declared. President Donald Trump used the fraud cases against Bock and many others to initially justify a massive surge of federal officers to the Minneapolis-St. Paul area last winter, leading to pushback from residents and the deaths of two people."
