REST Centres opened a five-bedroom home in the Peel Region that is entirely owned by the Black-led charity to house five marginalized Black youth experiencing homelessness. The home was purchased in March 2025 with support from the region and the federal Reaching Home fund. REST Centres is accepting applications through the Region of Peel for five independent rooms. Youth are expected to arrive in February and will pay a subsidized rent of $390 per month to cover property taxes and maintenance. The charity also provides mental health programs, employment support and guidance for independent living.
