Abubakar Nur Khalil has been named chief executive officer of Btrust after serving as interim CEO and a non-voting board member; he will resign his board seat and report to the directors. The CEO term is three years and renewable once. Btrust supports open-source Bitcoin development in the Global South and has expanded activity across Africa, Latin America, and India. Initial donors included Jay-Z and Jack Dorsey. Under interim leadership, partnerships with Bitshala, Vinteum and 2140 increased and record grants were distributed.
