Bay Area executive admits to embezzling from nonprofit supported by Steph Curry
Briefly

Howard Solomon, a former executive director of the East Oakland Boxing Association, pleaded guilty to embezzling over $549,000 from his organization, which serves disadvantaged youth. The fraud spanned from 2017 to 2021 and involved misappropriating significant donations, including a $50,000 contribution from Stephen and Ayesha Curry. Solomon had unrestricted access to the charity's accounts and used the stolen funds for personal expenses, including high-end purchases and vacations, while failing to report the embezzled money on his taxes, leading to substantial losses for the IRS.
"Solomon used the embezzled funds and donations to pay for personal expenses that had no connection to his job," stated the U.S. attorney's office.
The $549,000 worth of embezzled funds included a $50,000 donation from Stephen and Ayesha Curry, which Solomon deposited into his personal account.
