Yankees, Ticketmaster restrict playoff tickets to residents of 4 states
"The New York Yankees are looking to keep Red Sox fans out of the Bronx when it comes to home AL Wild Card games -- at least when it comes to Red Sox fans from Massachusetts. Tickets to home playoffs games via the Yankees or Ticketmaster are only available to residents of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. If you manage to make an online order in error, it'll be canceled."
"The Yankees say they're restricting sales to both fight scalping and prioritize local fans. That also goes for the American League Division Series, when it moves to either the Bronx or Boston for a game 3 on Oct. 7. If it lands in New York, Blue Jays fans in Canada won't have access either. Game 1 of the Yankees-Red Sox Wild Card series is scheduled for 6:08 p.m. Tuesday at Yankee Stadium, with Sox ace Garret Crochet facing off against Max Fried. Games 2 and 3 (if needed) are slated for the same time on Wednesday and Thursday."
The New York Yankees are limiting online sales of home AL Wild Card playoff tickets to residents of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Orders placed by residents outside those four states through the Yankees or Ticketmaster will be canceled. Fans outside the four states can still buy tickets on secondary marketplaces like StubHub. The restriction is intended to combat scalping and to prioritize local fans. The same regional restriction would apply if the American League Division Series shifts to a game 3 in New York on Oct. 7, affecting Canadian Blue Jays fans. Game 1 is scheduled for 6:08 p.m. Tuesday at Yankee Stadium, with Games 2 and 3 (if needed) on Wednesday and Thursday.
