Cade Winquest was returned to the Cardinals after being designated for assignment by the Yankees. He cleared waivers and does not occupy a spot on the Cards' 40-man roster. Winquest had a challenging spring training, allowing eight earned runs in ten innings. The Yankees had roster flexibility but did not use him in games. After being designated for assignment, he was offered back to the Cardinals and will report to Triple-A Memphis for further development, having previously pitched 106 innings with a 3.99 ERA last season.
