Yankees place reliever Leiter Jr. on 15-day IL
Briefly

Yankees pitcher Mark Leiter Jr. has been placed on the 15-day injured list because of a stress fracture in his left fibula head. The injury happened during a game in Cincinnati on June 24. Initially believed to be a calf issue, Leiter experienced discomfort while pitching. He noted that he felt progress over time but felt a setback during warmups recently. Despite his struggles, he completed 41 appearances this season with a 4.46 ERA and will be examined by a doctor for further evaluation.
Leiter expressed uncertainty about his treatment and timeline, stating, "I'm not sure yet regarding treatment, a timeline or if I will be able to continue throwing."
In discussing the injury, Leiter mentioned, "It was definitely trending in a positive way. I was able to compete. I was able to feel like I had my legs under me."
