Grisham scored the game's first run in the first inning when Ben Rice grounded into a double play. He walked to lead off the game and was later part of a double steal with Aaron Judge, who also walked. Grisham delivered the game's defining hit in the fourth, reaching Chicago starter Yoendrys Gomez for a grand slam. It was Grisham's seventh home run in the past 10 games and his second grand slam this season.
New York stretched its winning streak to a season-best six games. It hardly fazed the Yankees, who pulled away with three runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh. Volpe delivered an RBI single and two-run home over that stretch to finish 2-for-4 with three RBIs. It was his second consecutive multi-hit game in the series after he went 1-for-37 in his previous 11 games.
