Central NY woman charged with felony after locking 6-year-old girl in closet before leaving home, police say
"An investigation found that Lori A. Maricle, 31, locked the 6-year-old girl inside a closet and pushed a heavy wooden dresser in front of the door so she couldn't get out, police said. Maricle left the home for about an hour, leaving the girl confined in the dark closet. She also left two other children - a 2-year-old and a 7-month-old - unsupervised in the home, police said."
"On Wednesday, officers were called to 25 Arthur Ave. in Cortland to check on the well-being of young children, according to a news release from the Cortland Police Department. She was charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment (a felony), second-degree reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child, police said. Maricle was taken to the Cortland County Jail and later posted bail. She is scheduled to appear at 10 a.m. Oct. 17 in the Cortland City Court."
