Around the Empire: Yankees news - 4/21/25
Briefly

In a controversial game for the Yankees, Max Fried's no-hitter bid was interrupted by a puzzling call from the official scorer. Despite some clarity offered by Aaron Boone regarding the decision, the timing caused confusion and frustration. Additionally, Aaron Judge experienced a tough moment when a home run was ruled a foul ball despite video evidence suggesting the opposite. This incident led to an ejection for Boone. On a more positive note, benched player Ben Rice was cleared from injury concerns, allowing him to potentially return for the next series against Cleveland.
While the decision itself is understandable as said by Aaron Boone in the postgame, the timing of it was frustrating and felt a little off.
Despite a challenge...seeming evidence that the ball was fair, the call on the field was allowed to stand, as the video review was apparently inconclusive.
Both Aarons remained steadfast after the game that the ball was fair and that the Yankees' captain should have another home run on his tally.
Good news is that the X-rays came back clear, and, while he didn't play in the matinee, Rice was doing better on Sunday.
