2000 Yankees Diary, July 5: Bombers double up the O's
Briefly

The Yankees secured a decisive 10-0 victory against the Orioles, improving their record to 41-37. Andy Pettitte pitched effectively, maintaining control throughout the game. Early runs came from Scott Brosius’s three-run homer. Derek Jeter added a solo home run, while a series of hits in the sixth inning further extended their lead. Paul O'Neill also contributed with a double that scored two more runs. This victory allowed the Yankees to remain within close contention for first place in the AL East.
Scott Brosius cashed in by belting a 1-0 pitch deep over the left-center wall for a three-run blast, giving the Yankees a quick 3-0 advantage in this one.
Derek Jeter salvaged the inning, however, when he belted a solo shot the other way, his eighth long ball of the season.
The big blow came from Paul O'Neill, who laced a double down the right field line to score another pair.
The Yankees now held a commanding 10-0 lead.
