QPR head coach Cifuentes leaves club
Briefly

Marti Cifuentes has departed from Queens Park Rangers after being put on gardening leave following a poor finish to the season, including a 5-0 defeat. The club's chief executive praised his positive impact over two years and noted his success in avoiding relegation during difficult times. Cifuentes took over in October 2023 and managed to lift the team from the bottom of the Championship with a notable home victory. However, injuries plagued the squad, affecting their performance as they finished 18th. Julien Stephan is expected to succeed him as head coach.
The decision to place Marti on gardening leave towards the end of the season was not an easy one to make, but we thank him wholeheartedly for his impact.
Cifuentes replaced Gareth Ainsworth in October 2023 and led the club to safety in his first season while exploring a mixture of established and young talent.
