The Mets and Yankees will play six Subway Series games during the 2026 regular season, with a Bronx series scheduled Sept. 11–13 to observe the 25th anniversary of 9/11. Major League Baseball released the 2026 regular-season schedules. The first baseball game in New York City after the 9/11 attacks occurred Sept. 21, 2001, at Shea Stadium, when Mike Piazza hit a go-ahead two-run home run as the Mets beat Atlanta 3–2. The first Subway Series of 2026 will be at Citi Field May 15–17. The Mets open March 26 at Citi Field vs. the Pirates; the Yankees open March 25 in San Francisco vs. the Giants.

It's always special, "We know the meaning of Sept. 11 here. You feel it around the city and to be able to have the two teams play at the same time, it's pretty special. You know [with the] ceremonies, you can just feel it. It's a different day here in New York and now we get to do it in the Bronx.
