The article reflects on the recent performances of pitchers Dicky Lovelady and Jonathan Pintaro during their debuts with the Mets, highlighting their struggles amidst a disappointing night for the team. Lovelady was quickly designated for assignment after his appearance, leading to Pintaro’s brief stint before he too was replaced by Austin Warren. The commentary provides insight into the identities of these young pitchers, combining personal observations about their physical appearance and jersey numbers with a tone of nostalgic affection for their fleeting moments in the spotlight.
I kinda liked Dicky Lovelady (57) in his maiden Met appearance-there wasn't much else to like that night other than another Met debut for Frankie Montas.
I liked Pintaro too even as he couldn't close the door with a six-run lead he was right there with the rest of the bullpen, walking the first guy he saw.
Pintaro showed up rocking No. 91, but he's gone too. In his place is Austin Warren, who I'd already forgotten was here already this year.
This guy's different somehow. Wears No. 44.
