Staten Island HS baseball: Tottenville wins prestigious Monroe HS Tournament again
Briefly

Tottenville's baseball team secured a second consecutive championship title at the 54th Monroe High School Baseball Tournament, finishing with an unbeaten 7-0 record. Over five days, the Pirates showcased their skills by advancing through pool play and defeating tough opponents, including the defending PSAL city champions. Coach Mike Grippo emphasized the achievements as a testament to teamwork and resilience. Key players such as Michael Uccio and Ben Levy played significant roles in the team's success, while a diverse pitching lineup contributed to the victories. The Pirates' defensive plays also stood out during the tournament.
"Back-to-back Monroe Tournament Champions is so very difficult to accomplish against such difficult competition," said Grippo, whose club is a combined 14-0 the last two years in the event.
"The week-long tournament was a complete team effort, and the players played the game hard and smart. The coaching staff was truly proud of them."
The Pirates used 10 different pitchers over the week, and all were good. The staff was led by Mason Anderson, Matt Lewis, Jason Bassett, Santomassino and Nicholas Chirelli.
