St. John's University will commemorate Shannon Forde during Tuesday's men's basketball game against Georgetown at Madison Square Garden. Forde graduated from St. John's in 1994 with a dual degree in psychology and sports management. She spent 22 years with the New York Mets' media relations department, starting as an intern and advancing to senior director. During her tenure, Forde managed publicity for the Mets' pennant-winning seasons in 2000 and 2015, collaborating with eight future Hall of Famers including Mike Piazza and Pedro Martinez. The event will feature John Franco, a former Mets pitcher and St. John's alumnus, and Ed Kull, the university's vice president and director of athletics. Forde's family will receive a St. John's basketball jersey in her honor.
