Mets prospect Blade Tidwell announces himself with rare immaculate inning
Briefly

In a recent spring training game, Mets pitching prospect Blade Tidwell made headlines by striking out five batters while throwing an immaculate inning against the Rays. Facing a lineup that included notable players like Yandy Díaz and Brandon Lowe, Tidwell dominated on the mound, demonstrating improved command with 18 of 19 pitches thrown for strikes. His performance impressed manager Carlos Mendoza, who highlighted Tidwell's formidable repertoire and the effectiveness of his fast sinker, which nearly reached triple digits in speed.
In all, Tidwell faced six batters. The first, Díaz, hit a sinking liner to center that Jose Siri caught with a dive. The next five all returned to the dugout with their heads down after strikeouts.
"Pretty impressive," manager Carlos Mendoza said of Tidwell, a big, 6-foot-4 righty. "It was good to see - it was fun."
"It's always good to see ... how I stacked up against a big league squad," Tidwell said after the 10-1 Mets win at Charlotte Sports Park.
Tidwell had everything working on the afternoon. His sinker nearly touched triple digits, and four other offerings were similarly untouchable.
