Mets' likely Luisangel Acuna-Brett Baty decision has become even more challenging
Briefly

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza is navigating a tough decision regarding second base options Luisangel Acuña and Brett Baty, both performing well in recent games. Acuña boasts a .381 average and four stolen bases, while Baty has contributed with a .318 average, a double, and a triple. The imminent return of Jeff McNeil, currently on a rehab assignment, further complicates matters as one of them will likely be sent to the minor leagues. Mendoza acknowledges the challenge of keeping both players engaged while they’re performing well, considering potential positional flexibility as part of the decision.
"Trying to find a balance to keep both somehow fresh with game action. They're both playing well, so it makes it a lot harder," Mendoza said.
"Too early to tell. I think we'll cross that bridge when we have to. They're both playing well, so I hope that's the case that it's going to be a very difficult decision [of who leaves when McNeil joins]."
