Mets activate Marte from IL after 10-game absence
Briefly

Starling Marte was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a right knee bruise but missed only 10 games before being activated. Manager Carlos Mendoza indicated Marte will primarily serve as a designated hitter and pinch hitter initially while gradually increasing his defensive play. Marte performed well prior to the injury, maintaining a .333 batting average in his last 19 games. He has dealt with knee issues previously, which might have impacted his outfield performance and base running.
Following a two-week stint on the IL, the Mets activated Marte ahead of Tuesday night's game against the Angels at Citi Field.
Mendoza stated Marte's role will be similar to his pre-injury usage as a designated hitter and a pinch hitter while gradually ramping up his defensive play.
