Kodai Senga, the ace pitcher for the New York Mets, is recovering from a Grade 1 hamstring strain with positive progress. Scheduled for a light catch off the mound at Citi Field, Senga feels great and believes his arm's activity can accelerate his return. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza expressed optimism regarding Senga's workouts. Senga emphasized the importance of daily communication with the team about his recovery, embracing a cautious approach as he gradually increases his intensity in training.
Senga was initially prescribed a timetable of at least a month before he could return, but he has been able to keep his arm active despite the injury.
The fact that he's already getting on the mound and letting the ball go with some time of intensity, that's a really good sign, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said.
Senga jokingly said, Please ask my leg. I think on both ends, my end and the team's end, day by day, daily conversations are very important.
I'm recovering really well, Senga said. Maybe some days I can push it a little bit further, while some days I need to take a step back and take it easy.
