Keith Hernandez, aged 72, announced he will miss the next five games for the Mets because of a painful back condition. He revealed this during a broadcast on SNY while the Mets were playing in St. Louis. Hernandez is returning to New York for treatment and will also miss the upcoming four-game series in San Francisco. Todd Zeile will replace him alongside Gary Cohen for the series finale in St. Louis and the series in San Francisco.
