Justin Hagenman made his MLB debut on Wednesday after years in the minors and delivered a commendable performance, pitching 3 1/3 innings with one earned run against the Twins. The Mets, dealing with roster changes due to injuries, called up Hagenman as a sixth starter. Despite the loss, manager Carlos Mendoza praised his performance. It's anticipated Hagenman will return to Triple-A Syracuse soon as the Mets manage their roster, but he remains hopeful for more chances in the future.
"I was like, 'All right, this is real,'" the Mets right-hander said after his team's 4-3 loss to the Twins in 10 innings at Target Field.
"He gave us what we were asking," manager Carlos Mendoza said.
Hagenman understands the roster situation but also expects further opportunities.
It was likely just a cameo for Hagenman, who will likely return to Syracuse on Thursday when the Mets plan to place Jose Siri on the injured list.
