Francisco Alvarez, Jeff McNeil return to finally make Mets' lineup whole

The New York Mets managed by Carlos Mendoza finally fielded their complete projected Opening Day lineup with the returns of Francisco Alvarez and Jeff McNeil from injury. Despite their revitalized presence, the Mets suffered a 5-4 loss to the Nationals. Alvarez, recovering from surgery to remove a broken hamate bone, is expected to resume catching duties, while McNeil will play second base and outfield. Mendoza expressed confidence that the returning players, who significantly contributed to the team previously, would blend back in without disrupting team chemistry.
