"Donald Trump's choice"
Advisers to President Donald Trump reportedly discussed offering positions in his administration to Mayor Eric Adams and Republican Curtis Sliwa to improve Andrew Cuomo's odds against Zohran Mamdani in the November mayoral general election. Zohran Mamdani won the Democratic primary with 56 percent of the ranked choice vote, and Cuomo announced an independent run despite resigning as governor in 2021 amid sexual harassment accusations. Adams' spokesperson denied any meetings or discussions with Trump, Sliwa said he had not been contacted by the administration, and Cuomo said he did not want Trump involved in his race. Several wealthy donors have supported Cuomo's campaign.
