"I'm just appreciative of wherever I came from. [Brooklyn was] just one stepping stone where I was at before I was here. So just appreciative,"
"I think every time I play Brooklyn, I just think about how my life changed when I got there - when I got traded from Phoenix to there, just how my life changed from that situation. I had a great time [with the Nets]."
"But I never take it for granted - the time I had there, the connections I had and built with the young guys who are there now that I was teammates with."
Mikal Bridges is grateful for his time with the Brooklyn Nets and views Brooklyn as a stepping stone to his role with the New York Knicks. Being traded from Phoenix to Brooklyn marked a significant life change for Bridges and he enjoyed his tenure with the Nets. Bridges averaged a career-high 26.1 points per game in his first 27 Brooklyn games and 19.6 points per game in 2023-24. The Nets finished 32-50 while the Knicks finished 50-32. Bridges went 44-65 in Brooklyn and 56-34 with New York, including a 4-0 sweep of Brooklyn last season. Brooklyn acquired Bridges in the Durant trade and later traded him to New York for multiple draft picks.
