Jacob Nacht, an avid Knicks fan, is petitioning for a temporary tribute to point guard Jalen Brunson by placing a giant mask of his face on the Statue of Liberty. The petition has gained over 230 signatures, enough to be forwarded to Governor Hochul. Nacht, a lifelong Knicks supporter, believes Brunson has revitalized the team’s chances, providing hope for fans after years of disappointment. He started the petition following the team's playoff game, quickly gaining support from his friends and fellow fans, showcasing the passion and enthusiasm surrounding Brunson’s impact on the team.
"Ideally, we create a giant mask of Jalen Brunson's face for Lady Liberty to wear for one week," Nacht told The Post ahead of Saturday's Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals at MSG.
"It's been a tough 24 years, pretty disappointing for most of my life, but once Jalen Brunson joined the team, the entire vibe switched," he said.
"So I thought it would just be cool to do something to honor him and what better than to literally put his face on the iconic statue of New York, the Statue of Liberty."
"At first, I told my friends, and they're all huge Knicks fans and they signed it immediately. And then friends started sending it to some friends," he said.
