Take the visits, go on the visits you want to go on."
"You're 18 years old. I need you to start making some decisions that again, you're going to have to be a part of this for the rest of your life. You have to represent this for the rest of your life."
"We leave the visit and he's like, 'Dad, I understand. I want to go to 'Cuse.' And I was like, 'Really?' He's like, 'Yes, I want to go because I understand that it's greater than me. It's greater than you. What we have here is special.'"
Kiyan Anthony completed his freshman season at Syracuse University, following his father Carmelo Anthony's legendary path at the school. Carmelo won the national championship as a freshman in 2003 before his NBA career. When Kiyan began his recruiting process, Carmelo shared his experience as a top prospect but deliberately avoided pushing him toward Syracuse. Instead, he encouraged Kiyan to enjoy the recruiting visits and make his own decision, emphasizing that he would represent his choice for life. After visiting multiple schools, including USC, Kiyan ultimately chose Syracuse, recognizing the program's significance and his father's legacy there.
